James is a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training (SEPiT) having completed an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of the West of England, Bristol.
He has experience working with both professional and amateur athletes across a wide range of ages, sports, and competitive levels. James has particular expertise supporting elite teenage footballers through his work with Cardiff City Football Club’s academy, helping young athletes develop resilience, confidence, and the skills needed to thrive in high-performance environments.
Beyond sport, James is also able to provide performance psychology support to individuals and organisations within the corporate sector and performing arts. Drawing on decades of senior leadership experience within the civil service, he delivers practical, meaningful, and applied psychological guidance at both organisational and individual levels.
James offers a welcoming, collaborative, and person-centred approach grounded primarily in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He also integrates other evidence-based methods where appropriate. ACT provides clients with practical tools to clarify their values, build resilience, and take purposeful action toward their goals.
